Hot off the press from your friendly New Scientist a Single speaker unit creates surround sound (http://www.newscientist.com/news/news.jsp?id=ns99994373) and helps keep the listening room free from wires.

Any ideas if this is a runner or not?

haven';t heard it myself but ken kessler quite liked it in hi-fi news a while ago. citing it as a panacea for bitch wife from hell syndrome.

Rubbish, an axe and shovel would be considerably cheaper and available from your local B&Q

yes but only you are able to hear your system from your house whilst in broadmore.
