I agree the DS is excellent. I think it makes Naim's HDX look like a white elephant.

I play poker with Mr Gilad T. reasonably often, and a nicer chap you couldn't hope to meet. Never met the old man though.

Ivor seemed like a pretty good bloke TBH; I'd quite happily go on the lash with him. Did not seem to be faking sincerity, AFAICT.

The "clever" bit of the DS seemed to be the streaming of music from a hard drive; it really did sound good at 24bit, 96k.

I've spoken to Colin at MK; the DS was the Klimax, most of the rest of the kit included the words "Klimax" in the title - Klimax pre, 500 mono amps, etc.

Ivor ( check me out ) gave a very good description as to *why* the DS can improve any digital source; its all down to timing and although the data is just data and anything can regurgitate it, the most minute changes in the timing of its reproduction can make an audible difference. Changes at the pico second level are audible - I'm sure there are people who will be aware of this argument. His visual explanation of this was very good; he just held up a hand, palm out, fingers raised. The fingers represented the raw data, which is easy to regurgitate. Spreading his fingers slightly, he said that this is what happens if the timing of the regurgitation (my words) was out - same data, but different sound.

Thanks, Mike, I suspected it would be Klimax. If I'm not mistaken it uses Lundahl transformers in the output, which makes it different from the Akurate DS
